On December 24th, 2013, Deloraine RCMP received a complaint of a hit and run in the Town of Hartney. The investigation determined that the collision occurred on the weekend of December 21st and 22nd, 2013 when a vehicle struck a fire hydrant in the Town of Hartney, Manitoba. The fire hydrant broke off causing a large amount of flooding in the town as well as depleting the towns’ reservoir. The driver of the vehicle did not remain at the scene or report the incident to Police. The cost of the damage is estimated to be in excess of $20,000. A white or light coloured truck with a tall male were reportedly seen in the area on the night of December 21st, 2013.
