On Sunday, May 12th 2019 at approximately 7pm, a grass fire was started just outside of the Keeseekoowenin First Nation Reserve in the Rural Municipality of Yellowhead, Manitoba. The fire spread to a property nearby off of highway 354. A large area was burned and multiple structures including sheds, a barn, and a mobile home were destroyed. Multiple firefighting resources had to be deployed and the cost of the property damages are significant. A witness saw a group of youths playing in the field where the fire started immediately prior to the fire being spotted. No description of the youths was available. Police and firefighters have deemed the fire suspicious and believe it was deliberately set.
