On the morning of Monday, August 25th, 2014, Portage la Prairie RCMP were called to a shed fire on Hwy 26, in Poplar Point, MB. A compound, owned by Manitoba Infrastruction and Transportation, was entered by one or more persons. The shed was metal and someone had driven a truck into it to gain entry. The truck was partially burnt on site. The fire being treated as suspicious. There were 3 Side by Side ATV’s that had been stolen from the compound. One was recovered a short distance away, having rolled over in the ditch. 2 more Side by Side ATV’s found to be burnt in the shed. The truck that was located in the garage door of the shed was later found to have been stolen from the RM of Westbourne. Total loss is estimated at $90,000.
