On Monday July 16, 2012, just before 2:00 a.m, Thompson RCMP and local emergency services were dispatched to a call of a man who appeared to have been struck by a vehicle, and was laying on Highway 391, just south of the entrance to the Thompson Golf Course.

Thompson RCMP and Thompson Fire and Ambulance members attended, and located a 19-year-old male. The man was transported to hospital and was pronounced deceased a short time later. His name will not be released.

RCMP investigation has determined that the male was cycling and had been struck by a vehicle, possibly white in colour. The victim was described as wearing dark coloured clothing.
